My Story

WHY I MOVE

Nicole Hope West, also known as Minister Nikki, is In Love with her LORD and Savior Jesus Christ! She walks in her Apostolic Anointing as a Prophetic voice in the land and as an Ordained Minister of Dance, ministering for nearly 30 years and teaching Liturgical dance for over 15 years. Nikki is also certified as both an Independent Revelation Wellness Fitness Coach and an ABT Strictly Ballet Barre Instructor.

How it started

Nikki West is the middle child of seven and was born and raised in the church and now both of her parents are her pastors. She was called to the ministry of dance at the age of 13 after seeing a Liturgical Dance for the first time while sitting in the back of the church one Sunday afternoon. What was once a desire has now become her call, passion, and purpose; and she has been dancing to and for the Lord ever since.

Two years after joining her dance team at church, as a youth, Nikki auditioned and was accepted to the Jeannette Neill Dance studio in Boston, MA; where she learned beginners Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern dance for two years. She studied at Roxbury Community College in Boston MA, completed an online course at Oral Roberts University and holds an associate degree of Worship Arts from, “The Worship Arts Conservatory.” Nikki received certification of completion in 2016 for “Dance the Higher call”, an eight-month course from Set Free Ministries, under Instructor Apostle Dr. Pamela Hardy. Nikki is co-director and member of Community Revival & Outreach Ministries, Anointed Praise Liturgical Dance Team and she uses the vehicle of Liturgical Dance to propel the gospel of Jesus Christ through dance and expressive movement that will equip, impact, and transform lives through the power of the Holy Spirit.

After a blessed opportunity to teach Liturgical Dance classes in 2014 in a state-of-the-art dance studio, In Boston, God gave Nikki, Acts 17:28 and birth out of her W. I. M. L. D. (Why I Move Liturgical Dance). As founder and director of Why I Moved Liturgical Dance, a worship-arts online school, Nikki's main focus is not teaching you how to dance, but rather equipping you to move in your assignment knowing your mantle from the inside out!

This is one of the many reasons why Nikki loves teaching women of all ages, training, equipping, and empowering them in dance ministry; to minister from the inside out, being unique and authentic to who God has called and created them to be. She does this by both empowering and training women to flourish in identity and ministry while addressing the balance of spirit, soul, mind and body through the word of God, prayer, exercise, fellowship, and expressive worship through dance.

And out of this obedience to God, five years later in 2019, Nikki turned her passion to paper and wrote her first book, “Garment of Praise A Beginner's Guide”, to serve  the Dance Ministry, on how to wear a garment of praise while worshiping God and telling their story as they move for Him; understanding that this is not just about dancing, it's a lifestyle we must live .

How I'm Moving Now

After having her third child in 2020, God has led Nikki to hold the majority of her Liturgical Dance and fitness classes virtually; via Zoom, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. A much different delivery platform for her, but the message is still the same, to equip the women of God to minister in dance authentically from the Inside out. By expanding the ministry online, Nikki is now serving more organizations, leaders, dancers and ministries than ever before, locally and abroad. With her monthly newsletters, books, online dance courses, chorography and podcasts she is cultivating the kingdom by meeting worshipers right where they are. Nikki is excited for what God has instore for her on the horizon and Why I Move Liturgical Dance.

Nikki is married to her best friend Keith and is blessed to have 3 beautiful children; she is a full time stay at home mom and in times of rest and reset, she loves spending quality time with her babies, family, friends, walking along the beach, exercising, and enjoying her favorite foods.

When ministering to the LORD, Nikki is known as “storyteller" through movement, and she gives Jesus all the glory and honor for restoring her dance from past traumas and dramas of her life by healing her from the inside out, (Spirit, Soul and Body) and now she declares victory from a place of wholeness, and imparts this prayer for her students,

" My desire is that you don't dance to live but live to worship."

What we believe...

In the invisible Spirit, God- the Almighty Creator, and in Hs divine

Son-Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost- the third person in the Trinity of God (Genesis 1:26, Acts 17:24-28, John 3:16, Acts2:1-5).

The works of Grace are three: One must be saved from sins (justified by faith) Romans 10:9-10, sanctified Wholly (holiness) Hebrew 10:14, and baptized with the Holy Ghost(power indwelling), John 14:15-18.
